Empowering Future Generations: ARH Orientation for ALS-SHS Learners

Promoting Awareness, Responsibility, and Health Among Senior High Students

In today's fast-changing world, adolescent reproductive health (ARH) plays a crucial role in shaping responsible young adults. Recognizing this, Agay National High School held an ARH Orientation for ALS-SHS Students on August 2, 2024, at the Agay NHS Library. This initiative aimed to equip Grade 11 and 12 learners with vital knowledge about reproductive health, family planning, and safe sexual practices, empowering them to make informed decisions about their well-being and future.

A Learning Experience for Life

The orientation began with an overview of the ALS-SHS program, helping students understand the different strands and career pathways available to them. An additional highlight was the NC2 sponsorship discussion, offering interested learners an opportunity to gain technical skills that could enhance their employment prospects.

The session’s centerpiece was a comprehensive discussion on adolescent reproductive health, led by Municipal Population Officer, Mr. Elton Panulaya. His talk covered essential topics such as:

🔹 The basics of anatomy and physiology related to reproductive health
🔹 The importance of safe sexual practices and their role in preventing diseases and unplanned pregnancies
🔹 Family planning methods and the resources available through government and community programs

Equipping Students for a Healthier Future

The event proved to be highly impactful, with students not only gaining valuable knowledge but also being empowered to make responsible choices. Among the key outcomes of the orientation were:

Better decision-making regarding their ALS-SHS strand and career path
Increased awareness of reproductive health, ensuring they are equipped with practical skills to maintain their well-being
Access to school and LGU resources, providing continued guidance and support

A Commitment to Youth Development

Spearheaded by YOLO – ARH Coordinator Jayson S. Patalinghug, this initiative reflects Agay NHS's commitment to holistic education, emphasizing both academic growth and life skills development. Principal Analou O. Heremocilla, Ed.D., also expressed her support, underscoring the school's role in nurturing responsible, informed, and empowered young individuals.

Moving Forward

The ARH Orientation for ALS-SHS students is more than just a lecture—it is a stepping stone towards informed decision-making and responsible adulthood. By integrating reproductive health education into the ALS-SHS program, Agay NHS continues to pave the way for a generation that is not only academically equipped but also socially aware and health-conscious.

With the success of this event, students are now better prepared to navigate their personal and academic journeys with confidence, knowledge, and responsibility.
